But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest in me.”2 Corinthians 12:9
- Grace is a gift from God.
- It cannot be earned.
- Grace is unmerited favor.
- It is freely given by Jesus.
This has always been a hard concept to swallow because throughout my life, I have felt like I have failed people in my life such as close friends, family and myself the most which has led to disappointment, anger or even just complete isolation.
I have fallen short of my own standards so many times. I have set plans for myself and have not followed through and have made decisions that have led me into the depths of despair. I have truly felt like I do not belong, I have felt as though whatever I do is never going to be good enough for myself or anybody in my life.
Feeling like a failure, feeling like I cannot do anything right, feeling like I am never going to make it to the next level or feeling as though the world is judging your every move, have all come crashing down on me for a while. Even during these times though, I have been constantly touched by the Grace of God. To think that I am a sinner and undeserving of unconditional love and forgiveness, yet God sees me as his perfect creation and uses his power to meet me there in my weakness is truly an undeniably beautiful gift.
For we are human, weak and prone to wrong, And by His grace alone we are made strong.Henry Coyle, Thankful Heart
By learning what the meaning of grace is, favor that we do not deserve, it truly becomes easier to live for Him. He does not judge, he does not condemn, he does not instill fear or anxiety. Instead he instills love, he instills peace beyond all understanding and with his grace, he protects us from feeling like failures because he paid the price. He also does not just gift us with grace every once in a while, he pours his power in our weakness every time we feel it. He does not hold back ever, he does not turn his cheek to us ever.
The most encouraging part is just learning that no matter how much of a mess we are, no matter how broken we are, no matter what struggles and trials we are facing, we can truly come as we are to our knees and He will be there to pick us up and guide our steps. He has a plan and purpose for us even when we cannot seem to find it, just trusting and knowing that His grace has paved the way for us to live with Him. He dwells in us and we can just breathe through it.
So whatever you are facing today, whatever trials and challenges lay in front of you, remember that you have God’s grace abounding for you every single day, no matter what. We would love to pray for you, so leave a comment if you feel up to it!
